The Zimapan Dam, also known as Fernando Hirart Dam, is a wonder of Mexican engineering.

START THE ROAD

On the way to the dam admire the magnificent bridges crossing underneath the mountains and the sinuous curves welcome you. Stop at the viewpoints to revel in the spectacular, rugged landscapes extending to your feet.

Discover the islet rising in the middle of the waters that flooded the area and distinguish the whimsical architecture that poses an elevated complex on solid concrete piles and taut ropes holding the roof tarps.

NAVIGATE AMONG STONE WALLS

Go to one of the jetties and take a boat to navigate the river. Admire the different colors of the stones in the walls of more than 200 meters high. Pay attention to the impressive cuts that the engineers made to the walls of rock to give fluidity to the current and imagine the force of the river entering the hydroelectric power station.

STOP AND ENJOY

Enter among the canyons and stop in one of the beaches splashing the mountain range to observe the steep banks of more than 200 meters high expanding into the sky. Discover the flight of the immense and mythical eagles gliding with eyes on the landscape.

BE PART OF THE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION

Dare to participate in a catch and bass release contest that allows you to feel the emotion of fishing and support the preservation of river life. If the wind allows, rent a small sailboat and take advantage of its breath to move over the fresh water of the huge body of water that is contained among the mountains.
