Zipolite in Zapotec means Beach of the Dead. It is said that the ancient settlers buried their dead there and later the place would become a fertile land destined to immortality. In the 60´s, this destination became popular among hippies and foreigners. Currently, it has become famous with the making of Mexican films like "Y tu mama tambien."
