DISCOVER THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TOCORINES OR FLYERS OF PAPANTLA


It is one of the oldest ceremonies known, in which the dancers fly with colorful clothes. Listen to the singing of flutes made of reed called chirimía as well as the sound of a small drum, together they produce the ryhtmn of the pre-Hispanic music.
Compare the Totonaca version in which four men greet the four cardinal points and the Aztec version in which besides the cardinal points, the zenith, that is the sky, and nadir, which is the earth, are venerated too.

Enjoy this dance of Tolteca origin in the festivities. Admire the costume of incomparable beauty that includes a plume made of feathers of bird, cloak, handkerchief and maracas to play the rhythm of the dance and the execution of it.

Other dances that you can also see are those of the carnival, the jonote and the one of the corn that are done as a ritual.
