Be impressed by the heritage of our ancestors sheltered in the heart of the Sierra.

Take a spectacular journey to the past and enjoy the stories of old ancestors living in these lands before the Spanish conquest. Visit the Alta Vista Chalchihuites Archaeological Site and explore one of the most important ceremonial and astronomical centers of the northern border of Mesoamerica.
Tour the site built in a specific spot among hills and mountains which facilitate the observation of solar cycles and marvel at the ancient structures that survived their creators and, for this reason, now reveal the secrets of their people.

Climb to the top of the Chapin Hill and discover striking engravings, remains of the Chalchihuites culture showing calendar beads truly similar to those found in Teotihuacan.

Finish up your tour at the on-site museum whose mud-plastered walls are integrated into the atmosphere and house the John Charles Kelly room. Stroll through the only room of the museum where more than 320 pieces are shown and which have helped us to understand the way of life of the ancient settlers of the region. Marvel at the exhibition divided into four themes and enjoy the dynamic tour of the circular construction that houses it.
On the way out, make sure to visit the museum shop offering handicrafts, souvenirs and archeology, anthropology and history books of the region.
